Let me see what I can find out on the WMRRA forums, Mookie. There's boind to be an indy shop that does top class dyno and EFI tuning work for a reasonable cost.

Thanks Pete! I've already called cycle barn and I'll get em to check it out this weekend. I would assume they've got a dyno and they did decent work on my 675 (though nothing ever went wrong with that bike, just maintenance stuff).

I'm pretty sure they still have a dyno. Widge had a dyno break-in done on his 675.

Sick bike. If I trusted my KTM dealer farther than I could throw them I'd have that on the short list. But they can't even get my Duke running right. You have a Shelby too? Cobra?? Duke or Super Duke? I had an SD and had it tuned quite a bit. Ran great!

I'm going to put the stock airbox in to help narrow down the possible problem areas.

Beauty of a bike! Got a garage, or some serious locks/chains/guard dogs to keep the punks off it? Side view Front view with tail tidy

I'm going to put the stock airbox in to help narrow down the possible problem areas. I left the airbox alone (better filter only), put on MiVV slip ons, had my dealer load the Akro tune, THEN had a power commander dialed in. Also did the throttle tube replacement from KTM Twins. These mods had it running great and the throttle was far less twitchy. The other thing is if your bike was an early one with the 15T sprocket, change to a 16T. I may have one here I can send.

I believe mine also has a non-stock throttle tube, though I'm not sure what it is. I've also got a power commander with a dyno tuned map and some Leo Vince slipons. It was completely unrideable when I bought the bike but once I got the dyno tune it cleared it up mostly (the previous owner had added the airbox and exhaust mods without changing the fueling at all, it was amazing the guy had put 3000 miles on it without killing himself). After the mapping change, the only problem remaining was a bad stumble/surge at around 4000 rpm that I still just can't get rid of. Nearly caused me to crash during one of my track days when I rolled on the throttle and nothing happened, then all the sudden a big burst of power in 2nd gear. The gearing seems pretty spot on as it is, but thanks for the offer. If I can't get the 4k fueling thing fixed I'll be getting rid of this bike. It sucks because I LOVE the chassis, the engine, the looks, everything, but that 4k problem is right where I'm at all the time and it's just ruining it for me.

I loved the bike too. My only gripe with it was the seat. I loved the motor and the chassis. The Akra tune from the dealer solved a ton of issues that the PC alone didn't. It removes the throttle limitations in 2nd and 3rd gear. That made a huge difference for me. I had the twitchy throttle, but never a stumble at 4k. I think you're on the right path with putting the stock airbox back on.

If you look at the mapping on a modern, injected bike, you will find a big hole in the ignition timing around 4K rpm. It's there for emissions, both air and sound. If the mapping you do doesn't take this into account, it is incomplete. If you are making the engine breathe better, then you had best be remapping BOTH the fuel and the timing. That's my take on the problem you are having. It's worth one last look if you really like the bike.
