So my neighbor has had a few items under tarps along the side of his house for years. This dude is in his 70s and has had a string of recent heart attacks.
Well when Sandy came through here the tarps were blown off. Under the one it appears to be an early 80s Honda. I haven't walked up to get a good look at it but it is most definitely a UJM.
It is just sitting there and I've been tempted to knock on his door and inquire. I have a buddy that does all sorts of mechanical and metal work. I have this idea of seeing if they would be willing to part with the motorcycle and turn it into a cafe racer.
Thoughts?

Depends what it is. If it's a CB750F or CB900F, I'd say go for it. If it's one of the twins (CB450), I'd just restore it to reasonable commuter condition and ride it 'til it dies.

You are nuts, but I say that in a good way. I have an old bike in a garage, and every part of it that is still bolted on leaks oil or air or something. It doesn't run. I'm not sure if I even have all the pieces, but never mind that. Some of the ones I have are junk and have to be replaced, so it just doesn't matter. We can have a contest to see who get around to doing something with the old pile of bolts first.

It appears it might be a CB750. A photo coming soon.

Okay, turns out this bike seems to be missing a gas tank but it is a Honda. I couldn't get a great photo because didn't want the neighbors to wonder why I'm taking a photo of the bike. Plus, the one neighbor is a state cop and he is a jerk. So here is the photo, I think it might be a CB750: Looks very similar to:

Definitely cafe material. I say make an offer!

That looks more like the 450. Those twin towers were awesome bits of kit, and Fritz is correct, absolute cafe material. / Edit: I see upon closer examination that that is an I-4, not a twin. Imagine it looking like this...

Also, it's definitely late 70s, not 80s. It's the stacked mufflers that give it away.
