Its not like this guy single handedly caused the demise of the US auto industry. I'm sure GM had more than one economist, and I am sure they were under pressure from their bosses to produce the results they wanted. If one of these economists spat out that fuel economy was important during the late 90's. when the fuel gargling explorer was one of the best selling vehicles along with the suburban, they probably would have been laughed out of Detroit.
