I am looking into a lower priced helmet for the coming season. Ideas?

The new Shoei midgrade is supposed to be really nice.
How much you want to spend?

I and the wife both have HJC full face helmets, and have been happy with them.

I was thinking seriously about using Fulmer helmets when I get back to the track. At $150, they are cheap enough to replace without feeling bad about much more than the crash. They don't fit quite as well as an RF1000, but they are just fine for the price. I have heard good things about some other cheaper helmets, but I haven't worn one, so I can't comment. HJC fit me pretty well, too, so they would be another option, but I know and like the Fulmer dealer I would be buying helmets from.

I like my Scorpion, but then it's a motard helmet. It does have a nice removable interior and for 120 bucks you really can't beat it. I think their helmets are all a little heavier than fancier brands but they manage to pack most of the same nice features for a much lower price.

If it fits your head, the Scorpion EXO 400 is the best bang for the buck IMO. If the 400 doesn't fit, the 700 seems to have the shape that accommodates the different head shapes. My wife wears the 700 and for a few bucks more she loves it. Both helmets flow so much they are borderline obnoxious. This is great in the heat, but sucks in the cold, especially if you wear contacts. I block off the vents in the colder months with some electrical tape, and a chin spoiler makes a world of difference.
My moneys on the Scorp, and for reference, the HJC gave me a nasty hot spot on my forehead. Guess I got an egg shaped head or something.

Cost her $149 shipped with an extra visor. The build quality is actually really good. There are a couple niggling little things that you REALLY have to look for but I would wear one.

I am thinking Scorpion, they seem to offer a lot for the buck. I am going to try one on. They have them on close out for 109.00 bucks at STG and that is a great deal. We shall see.

Well, I ended up buying a new GMax helmet in a XXL and it was 100 bucks which was less than I was expecting. The only helmet that fit me any better was the new Shoei RF1100 which is 500 Dollars. I will be very curious to see how the helmet works on the road. Will just be using it to commute to work and back.

Ok so that did not come out right, I ment see how the venting etc work on the road. I really like the flip down dark visor, that could be a great feature. ;D
