If rich people and corporate chieftains dump huge amounts of money into advertizing, it's a stimulus to the economy. Just think - if the election spending is a couple billion dollars, that's money that was stagnating somewhere in a Swiss bank account before, but will be back in the economy. Perverse, but there it is.

That right there is the #1 reason why the "liberal media" is a myth. State funded elections would ruin the major networks. They loves them some free market politics.

Heard a stat today that 21 individuals have donated over $60 million this year to election campaign. Lemme guess - they are all Republicans... Not sure what the breakout is down party lines but they point the person was trying to make is that wealth will buy elections even more now. And, since the wealthy will not have an easier way to control elections, guess who the laws will benefit.
