I loved my 675! One of these days, I'd like to put a Zard lowmount like your onto my bike.

One of these days, I'd like to put a Zard lowmount like your onto my bike. Sounded great. Didn't change the underseat heat issue. Didn't cause a ton of ground clearance problems (would drag occasionaly on track). Decent midrange gain with tuning. Cool pipe. Coolest pipe I have seen recently was on my buddy's 675. He has one of those IXIL triple pipe exhausts. Pretty cool.

So it was still an ass burner with the low exhaust? Not as bad, but the heat was still there, definitely. Your ass will still sweat.

How about this GPR: It is the one I really lust after, but I don't think they made more than a handful of them and they were selling for $1800+ three years ago. (edit) Found a bigger picture.(edit) It is a completely outrageous looking system, and the only thing close to as crazy looking is the exhaust on a 500cc two stroke GP bike. As far as heat, I haven't had many problems, perhaps because I either wear leathers or textile overpants whenever I'm on the bike. If I were just wearing jeans or some other somewhat thinner, less insulative material, I can see how heat would be an issue.

I like the underseat exhaust strictly from a crash damage limitation perspective. You drop it on it's side and it doesn't cost a thousand bucks to replace your now bent exhaust, if it's protected in the middle. Otherwise, I think I like side mounted GP style best. No unneeded plumbing, less hot ass (though that sounds like a negative) and probably less weight.
That GPR exhaust is pretty damn trick looking though

I wore leathers and it gets super sticky in Chicago in the summer (you lived in the midwest) and I would wear a pair of Joe Rocket leather pants that were vented and it was still super hot. As far as that GPR exhaust, I found out the side pipe is pretty much for show. I am one of those asses that if it's not functional, I won't do it. If you look at the 675 in the pic. It has a Penske, AP Racing monoblocks, Brembo master, the motor had race kit parts from Triumph and put out about 127 to the rear wheel. The only thing I did that wasn't purely functional was the Zard. I was hoping that would get rid of the toasty ass.

Yeah, I don't miss the midwest at all. It is an uninhabitable climate. Most exhausts on modern sportbikes are for show, really. The Triumph Arrow system probably isn't, but the change is weight more than power. I just like the way the GPR exhaust looks, and if you are going to waste money on pure bling, it might as well be outrageous pure bling instead of bling masquerading as something useful.

Honestly, the reason I went with the Zard was to move the exhaust closer to the CofG. We were trying to get get Hindle to build one. Even hacked together a prototype based on the GSXR muffler
