Any company can create whatever image they want. It takes new and repeat customers to maintain that image, otherwise the company need s anew image. Meh, just get sick of the Harley bashing (not you, John). I don't ride Harleys for one reason, they don't make anything that appeals to me. That's it. Trust me, I have the same opinion of many Ducati people. When I owned my 999, I ran into some of the biggest idiots I have ever seen. I had a 999R Xerox. A guy on a 1098 asked me if it was a 600. Nevermind it say 999 ON THE BIKE IN 4 PLACES and that Ducati never made a 600 version of that bike. Ducati has cultivated this as well. Not Harley specific, in my case.

Ski, my first street bike was a 75 sporty, followed be a 85 FXRS, followed by a 96 Road King. I'm still tossing the idea around about getting rid of my XX, and replacing it with a 2010 883!!! Why a 883, and not the 1200? I like the Sportster line, and the Crossbones. I can do without the rest, although I bear them no ill will. How did you like that Road King? 883 trying to keep it cheap as possible. I loved the Road King, smooth smooth smooth. Hit 5th gear and it was like floating on a cloud. The brakes were a joke, and that is the #1 reason I went with a BMW R1100RT.

This is why I like Guzzi people so much. Most people haven't even heard of the marque, and of those that have many don't hold it in high regard. Why would you ride that? It's heavy, has no power, they're weird looking..... My favorite Guzzi shirt was from GuzziTech.Com and it said, "You meet the weirdest people on a Guzzi." In my experience thus far it's been true, and delightfully so.

Another reason to ride a Guzzi. No pirates unless they are really weird pirates. Harley pirates are all the same.

American company or not, I hope they go bankrupt. +1 There are far better Canadian motorcycle manufacturers we could be buying from.
