Went to pick up a rental car yesterday. As I was getting out of the cab, I noticed what looked like a ton of mascots in front of the hotel. Folks dressed in animal costumes. Went inside and, more mascots. The entire lobby was full of them. Thought they were college students at some sort of mascot convention. Some looked a little old, but I thought they could be chaperones. I get on the elevator to go downstairs to the rental office and I am on with about 5 mascots. This is very weird as I'm the only one not in a costume. When I get to the rental office, I ask what's going on upstairs. Turns out I was at Further Confusion. From their website: "Further Confusion is one of the world's largest anthropomorphic (or "furry") conventions. We will be returning for our 13th year, to the Fabulous Fairmont San José hotel for Further Confusion 2011, January 13th - 17th.
Further Confusion features eminent guests, educational panels, a dealer's room with comics, artwork, collectibles and clothing, an art show benefitting charitable organizations, gaming, nightly dances and world-class costuming!"Now, I saw this on G4 once and thought it was a joke. I was standing in an elevator with folks dressed in their fetish costumes. Quite possibly the most WTF moment in my life. I showered twice when I got home. www.furtherconfusion.org/fc2011/

You caught me. I have to dress up like Foghorn Leghorn to get off.
Makes it a pain to go to strip clubs. I got kicked out of Rick's once!

Reality is always weirder than fantasy anyway.

Bwahhahahaha!!!! I loves me some furries. Sweet Irish Thing didn't believe me when I told her about them. I had to direct her to the google for confirmation. There is a fairly substantial furry con (Rainfurrest!, no shit!) in Seattle every year. The Kid used to work at a pizza joint in Bellevue where they would do their weekly planning meetings. I'd show up to pick her up and laugh and laugh and laugh.
Furries: At least they're not goths!

Kinda like a Star Trek convention, or something. The continued existence of humanity is proof there is a God and She has a very, very strange sense of humor.
