Observe my oldest and closest friends. I've known these guys since second grade. On Friday, the clown on my right takes it into his head to kill his wife and shoot himself, leaving his two kids without parents. When I see him again, I'm kicking his ass.

that's just fucked up. I'm going to ask an incredibly stupid question, but did he show ANY signs of being a bit off? (And I don't mean this in a "you could've stopped it" sorta way. I mean it in that was he losing it lately way)

No. He was sad and mad and upset and all the other things you feel when your wife is busting up your marriage, but as a rule, he was genuinely the nicest guy you could meet. He was a really good guy that didn't deserve what he was getting from his old lady (not that she deserved this, not suggesting that at all).
He knew everyone. We gave him shit about being the Mayor, and honestly, he could have been if he wanted to be. There is probably no one on your list of people you know that you'd say "Oh yeah, that guy's gonna lose it," so it's kind of cliche to say that he was the last one you'd think of, but this is just so far outside of expectations that no one knows how to process it.
