I get political spam from just about everyone on the planet, most of it predictable and banal. The NRA hyperventilates over restrictions on anything short of ICBMs, the Brady Campaign hyperventilates anything more than a spit ball, and so it goes. Most of the time, it goes straight to the spam folder unread, whether it is from the right, the far right, the GOP, the left, the far left, the Democrats, or whatever. But, I just got one that actually irritated me a little. It was from the GOP asking me to "stand up" and support the "job creators." Right. We are all out of work because we don't coddle rich people enough. Oh, well. Some combination of dumbasses will sign their petition and send money. Spam email is dirt cheap, so they all may as well be selling fake Rolex watches, but that one really boggles my mind. I thought we had already flushed the "job creator" talking point down the toilet. Guess not.

It's the Goebbels method. The GOP will never let that myth go (or any of the other massively debunked horseshit they espouse), as long as they have breath with which to shout it.

Try watching 'meet he press' (and similar) for a window on what propaganda is being furnished by the 'serious people" to the "people who wish to be taken as serious people" (the viewers of such shows). You will hear plenty about "job creators" delivered with a straight face and "seriously" considered by all the "serious people" who are inevitably the only guests you ever see on such mainstream "serious" shows...
so no, that meme is alive & well..flourishing perhaps in fact.

I guess that's why I don't watch television. Reality is so much more compelling when you don't have somebody else telling you what to think.

Far too few people think that way, though...

The tube is still the #1 news source for most americans. and the web presence of the tube people is #2. If you don't keep up with the methods and delivery of mass media you will not understand the mass stupidity it produces. #1 right now is to maintain the fiction that there is substantive difference between the parties and their respective worldviews are equally legit on issues & facts. The mass media is REALLY invested in maintaining the fiction of "real choice" for the electorate. It's entertaining to watch them work their magic.... <g>

One of the most disturbing aspects of current American politics is how each successive administration enhances executive power just a little more. From that standpoint, they are indeed exactly the same. What's going on in Yemen, well, we've always been at war with Eastasia.
