I don't get it nor understand it. Maybe I'm missing something; but can somebody please explain to me why so many people hate Michelle Obama? What has she done?
I have a friend who posted on FB, "I think I dislike her more than her husband and I didn't think that was possible."
Really, what gives?

I have no real idea, but I can only chalk it up to racism/sexism. In my experience black women have it even worse than black men because not only are they black, they're also female and don't often conform to the white standard of female beauty. Furthermore, she kicks ass, and that's threatening.

I'd have to say that pretty well sums it up, actually.

I was hoping those weren't the reasons.

I can't think of any other reason to think she's anything other than completely amazing.

Uppity negro AND a woman? You really have to ask this question?

Indeed. That also helps explain the virulent hatred of the President himself. It sure as hell can't be his policies, because they are hardly the ultra-progressive, "Socialist" stuff of the (f)Right Wingnut blogs and media.

Changing attitudes is tough for some people. Fortunately, they will all die off in the next 20 or 30 years, and the kids who are coming of age now will think it is perfectly normal to have all kinds of different people in positions of authority. 40 years ago, finding a grade school teacher who was anything other than a white woman was next to impossible in most parts of the country. Now, it is perfectly normal to have all kinds of well qualified people teaching in just about any school you choose to visit. Kids who grow up in that environment will be far less likely to irrationally demonize people for reasons of ethnicity. I make an exception for wingnut religious schools, but those have their issues worldwide. People who are isolated from other ethnicities will continue to find it way to easy to be bigots. Those who are completely used to being around all kinds of people and sharing interests with all kinds of people will find it very odd to use ethnicity as a focus of dislike. Now, don't get me started on black Republicans...

Another reason to live another 10-20 years.. to see most of these first cohort boomer-gen fux kick off _finally_. The world can't help but be a better place for it. It is interesting...people in my age group (late boomer) have the lowest conservative identification and the highest democratic identification of any age group over 30. Yet add ten to fifteen years and *that* group (early boomers) has the highest conservative rating of any group less than 85 years old (and the lowest democratic affiliation)! There is evidently something to the generation jones idea...

I agree with all y'all. I am so completely impressed with Michelle Obama. I don't see anything wrong with her. What a totally real person. The reason assholes hate her is because they are threatened by her.

Well, she is bigger than most of us. Seeing her brother, the basketball coach at Oregon State, on stage during the convention was awe inspiring. He must be about eight feet tall.

So, it comes down to her being uppity, black, female AND taller than most of the shitheads that hate her.
Personally, I LIKE her for all of the above.
