I probably wouldn't watch them, but my wife wants to, so I'll probably watch with her. My expectation: Romney's practiced zingers will be painfully stiff. Obama will say "uh" a lot. Neither one of them will answer a question directly. Neither one of them will stumble, but neither one of them will say much of anything worth hearing, either.

And they will both walk out proclaiming victory.
Wife wants to watch them, too. I don't.

I watched the last few minutes...looked to me like Romney just literally kicked Obama's butt. He seemed fluent and at ease with a good supply of specifics (true or not he had them) while Obama was stuttering all over, his verbal pacing was just jarring and he seemed really rattled and defensive. *Not* a good showing, imo.
edited to add...wasn't just my impression evidently...Reuters: "While a lot can change before the November 6 vote, and Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney will go head to head twice more before then, polling conducted immediately after the debate showed Romney came out overwhelmingly on top.
A flash poll by CNN showed 67 percent of viewers thought Romney had 'won', with just 25 percent for Obama. Intrade, an online prediction market, cut Obama's re-election prospects from 74 percent to 66 percent."
I have to say I was surprised...i thought Obama was a better debater than this....

Didn't watch, myself, but if Romney was better with his delivery, I'm not necessarily surprised. He's had all sorts of time to rehearse and polish his delivery, while Obama has been combining campaigning with trying to do his day job as President, too. Not to mention, Romney is comfortable spouting utter bullshirts...

I took my daughter to swim lessons, but I had heard that Obama didn't come off as well as I had thought.
Is it true that he had John Kerry as his debate coach? WTF? Where is Bubba Clinton when you need him?!

it just gets worse...a near record 58million viewers got to see Obama's poor performance last night. Heck if i was basing a major part of my decision just on what i saw in that debate *I* would vote for Romney! On the heels of this a bad jobs/financial report are due out soon...he may just have blown the race. lol

So I've been catching up on my podcast from last week and one of the radio shows I listen to isn't a political show but once a week they talk politics. They had a political strategist on after the debate. They mentioned how the Obama camp wasn't aggressive but it could have been a strategy to let Romney expose himself with lies and then during the following debate they'd hammer him.
The political strategist mentioned this was a bad ploy because: 1. It made Obama look disinterested in the debate 2. American public doesn't care about facts
WHAT!!!!! He mentioned the American public at large doesn't like to get caught up in facts, they want to see how somebody "looks." Maybe Romney and Ryan, hell the entire GOP was onto something when they said they will not let "facts" dictate what they discuss.
If this is the case, why tell the truth at all?

The American public hasn't been interested in facts in decades, if they ever were. Fully 1/3 of the American population believes in UFOs and 1/4 of us believe in astrology.

Something close to 1/2 doesn't understand the difference between a scientific theory (evolution) and other kinds of theory (mystery movie). Otherwise there would be no "controversy" over moronic design to teach.
