It will be interesting to see what happens and what the system looks like in ten or twenty years. I think this has been, not entirely inaccurately, described as major gift to the insurance companies, but maybe it is also the first step towards truly socialized medicine. I can only hope.

I still have a bad feeling that this is going nowhere (except to benefit the insurance companies), at the expense of real reform, which is badly needed. However, I do not know the details of the plan, so I will wait to render an opinion, until something is fully inked.

I think if you want even the image of being part of the process you need to express your concerns to your congress critters before that time. Otherwise you are just along for the ride, which you probably are anyway. --chris
