Sounds like time for radical surgery, like maybe not another Dnepr motor.

Sounds like time for radical surgery, like maybe not another Dnepr motor. I considered the BMW swap, but its just a 'putting around' bike. I got it back in August, so its new to me, and its having teething issues, not unknown with an old Ukrainian motorcycle ;D

High performance grounding wires and a tornado would have prevented all of that.

High performance grounding wires and a tornado would have prevented all of that. Some of these (older models mostly) came from the factory filled with fish oil in the crankcases. Hey, its oil, right? Someone tried to get tricky with it, used higher compression pistons (MT11 pistons in a MT9 motor) and may have advanced the ignition (haven't verified this yet) in order to get more power, and bingo! Predetonation and a holed piston. Its a cliche to the nth degree ;D
