I've noticed that any time someone asks what gun to buy, people start shouting "Glock", and once someone even claimed that he's been using his for 10 years and never had any malfunctions.
Are they that awesome for real? I've never owned or fired one so I don't know if all the hype is true or not.
Opinions?

Had to Google is to see what you were talking about. Hmm... that's not much of a reference. Does that mean they are the "gixxers" of the gun world?

Had a Glock 17 Longslide. It was light, but had a too long trigger pull, making accuracy difficult, at least for me. So far, I've liked the Para-Ordinance .40 cal. Shorter, slightly lighter pull, better action, and never jammed, while the Glock did a few times. My $.02.
Don't have any firearms at the moment, and more of a rifle guy, anyway.

They're pure fanboy guns. They're the Harley-Davidson's of pistols.
They have a history of slide rails grenading, ejection mechanism jams (hard jams, not just your typical dirty ammo jams) and a whole host of other problems related to design and build quality. NYPD damn near canceled the entire contract over it. There are a whole lot of better guns out there.
Check out the Kel-Tek .380s or the Beretta .32s. You can't beat a small framed pistol, unless you're making a deliberate big bore decision.

I've got a Glock 19, 9mm. I love this gun very much. Easy to take down for cleaning. And I find it to be very accurate.

One is a quality weapon. The other gets by on reputation.

Thought Kel-Tek was throw away gun. Never had a problem with the G19, many many friends who also never had one problemo with the Glock. There are lovers, and there are haters of this gun. But explain to me why S&W and many other Mfg. are going the way of the Glock???

Because Smith, Sig, and Colt have never had those kinds of issues.
